(dependent upon the severity of the flaws in the paint work), lightly sand back\/flatten the finish, removing dust and defects as required.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li2\"\u003eDepending on the result after sanding\/flattening, decide whether you need to use #1 Compound or skip to #2 Polish.  Deeper scratches\/marks will require #1 Compound, whilst less intrusive marks will only need #2 motions\" (straight up and down, then side to side), applying gentle pressure.  Be careful of raised areas and paintwork edges so as not to \"burn\" through the paintwork!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li2\"\u003eOnce applied, remove residue with a clean polishing cloth.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li2\"\u003eRemove any excess dried Compound #1 with an old or soft
